Gutter Secrets

Poetry

My Gutter Secrets photo story won the Photo Storytelling category in the Nature Island Literary Festival and Book Fair Writing Competition 2015. Check out the image collages here. The latest version of the poem, renamed Lazarus, is below.

Lazarus
See what secrets are coughed
from the choking mouths of our
shame-filled
gutters.

Do we remember what we left for dead?

A litter of rain-forced confessions
resurrected like Lazarus;
staining us,
our Nature Island,
every other colour but
green.
